PITMAN, N.J. – Freshman
Matt Caruso (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Technical) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Baseball Rookie of the Week April 6.
He posted a .450 batting average, .500 on-base percentage and .700 slugging percentage with nine hits, two doubles, a home run, eight RBI and seven runs scored during a 3-2 week for the Pioneers.
The North Haledon, N.J., native recorded a hit in all five outings, including a pair of multi-hit performances. He logged a career-high four hits, five RBI and three runs scored with a double and his first collegiate home run during a 16-14 come-from-behind home win against No. 21 Montclair State April 3. He hit the game-tying double and scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning versus the Red Hawks.
Caruso and the Pioneers return to action Tuesday, April 7, for a 3:45 p.m. non-conference game against Drew at Jeff Albies Field.
