A leading public University with more than 10,000 students, William Paterson offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs through its four academic colleges: Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Cotsakos College of Business; Education; and Science and Health.

Its 370-acre wooded campus is located in suburban Wayne, New Jersey, just 20 miles from New York City, adjacent to 1,200 acres of wetlands and woodlands, and only three miles from the historic Paterson Great Falls.

The University offers a vast array of learning opportunities in its classrooms, laboratories, and studios, and throughout the campus, as well as at various off-campus locations. William Paterson's faculty members provide a valuable blend of accomplished scholarship and practical, applied experience. Among the University's faculty are 41 Fulbright scholars and recipients of numerous other awards, grants, and fellowships. The William Paterson University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has long been a source of pride for the entire campus community, thanks to the Pioneers' outstanding achievements on and off the competitive fields of play. Currently sponsoring 13 NCAA Division III teams (baseball, men's and women's basketball, field hockey, football, men's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, women's volleyball), William Paterson is a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, one of the most competitive leagues in the nation. Per NCAA Division III bylaws, William Paterson does not offer athletics-based scholarships.

At William Paterson, each individual is encouraged and inspired to achieve as a scholar, citizen and athlete. The development of critical life-long values such as hard work, fair play, honesty, integrity, cooperation, leadership and teamwork will help you become not only a successful student-athlete, but also a champion in the game of life.

Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Philosophy
The William Paterson University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of the University's overall mission to provide its students with a comprehensive educational experience, one that stresses the importance of academic, personal, emotional, social and physical development. As a part of the University's Division of Student Development, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics extends the learning environment beyond the classroom to enrich student-athletes' educational growth, providing them with the opportunities and means to be successful both in the classroom and the athletic arena.
Mission

The retention, success, growth, and graduation of each student-athlete are of the utmost importance. The ultimate goal is for every student-athlete enrolled at the University to make progress toward degree completion and graduation.
Coaches and other professional staff within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will foster an atmosphere of academic success by providing the guidance necessary to promote high academic achievement.
The Intercollegiate Athletics program will establish and maintain an environment that values cultural diversity and gender equity among our student-athletes, coaches, administrators and support staff.
The Intercollegiate Athletics program shall be conducted in a manner designed to protect and enhance the physical and educational welfare of all student-athletes.
All student-athletes, coaches and staff are required to abide by all University policies and the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
The Intercollegiate Athletics program will contribute to the overall quality of campus life while providing a source of pride to the University community and beyond.
Student-athletes will be encouraged to actively engage in community service and outreach.
The Intercollegiate Athletics program will provide equipment and facilities that both conform to the rules of each sport and ensure the health and safety of our student-athletes.
The Intercollegiate Athletics program will provide certified athletic trainers for the prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries.
Intercollegiate Athletics coaches will recruit quality individuals and promote skill development, conditioning, game preparation and strategy to achieve athletic success.
As a member of the NCAA, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will adhere to the NCAA Division III Philosophy Statement.

EADA Report
The Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act requires all coeducational institutions of higher education that participate in Title IV, the federal student financial aid program, and has an intercollegiate athletic program, to prepare an annual report to the Department of Education on athletic participation, staffing, and revenue and expenses, by men's and women's varsity teams.
