2009 Lauren's First and Goal
Several William Paterson football coaches volunteered at Lauren's First & Goal, a brain tumor research fundraiser that saw more than 1,700 high school student-athletes participate in a the one-day camp June 7.
EASTON, Pa. -- A record 1,733 high school students participated in the sixth annual Lauren’s First and Goal Football Camp on June 7 at Lafayette’s Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex. The one-day clinic featured 275 college coaches who volunteered their time to teach aspiring football players the ins-and-outs of the game, including Chadd Braine, Ethan Jeros, Mike McCourt, Erik Scott and Shawn Williams from William Patterson.

PITMAN, N.J. - Thirty-eight William Paterson student-athletes earned selections to the 2008-09 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Academic Teams, the league office announced June 11. Highlighting the Pioneers' award winners were a pair of first-team selections in senior field hockey forward Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) and senior men's swimmer Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic). Junior men's soccer goalkeeper Dan Peragallo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) and senior opposite hitter Samantha Reed (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) were named to the NJAC All-Academic Second Team, while 34 other Pioneers earned honorable-mention laurels.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - William Paterson seniors Will Courter (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) and John Elia (Emerson, N.J./Pascack Valley) and junior Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) all received nods to the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division II/III All-State First Team, leading a list of eight Pioneer honorees announced June 11.

Junior Miguel Lugo (Jersey City, N.J./St. Mary's) and sophomore Mike Moran (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) were selected to the All-State Third Team, while Steve Coral (Totowa, N.J./Passaic Valley), Anthony Dorio (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) and Rob Somers (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) earned spots on the All-Rookie Team.

WAYNE, N.J. -- William Paterson has released the 2009 schedules for its six fall programs. Athletic competition will officially begin on Tuesday, Sept. 1, when the women's soccer and field hockey teams both host season-opening contests at 7:00 p.m.

CAPE COD, MASS. – William Paterson senior third baseman Meghan Reilly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) was named the ECAC Softball Metro Region Player of the Year, and joined sophomore teammates Lindsey Nadolny (Bedford, N.J./Middletown North) and Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) on the ECAC Metro All-Star First Team, the group announced May 28.

CAPE COD, MASS. – William Paterson seniors Will Courter (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) and John Elia (Emerson, N.J./Pascack Valley) and junior Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) all earned spots on the ECAC Baseball Metro Region All-Star Team released May 28.

A member of the All- New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) First Team and the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Mid-Atlantic Region All-Third Team, Courter, who moved from first to third base this season, led the Pioneers with a .429 batting average (fourth in NJAC).

WAYNE, N.J. – For the second straight year, William Paterson outfielder Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) earned a spot on the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-America Team when he received third-team accolades on May 22.

Guadango, a three-time first-team all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) pick (2007-09), was a member of last year’s ABCA All-America Second Team as well as the 2008 and 2009 All-Region First Teams, and the 2007 All-Region Second Team.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson field hockey senior forward Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 2 At-Large Third Team, the group announced May 22.

Named to this fall’s Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-America First Team and Womensfieldhockey.com All-America Second Team, Hall was the 2008 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Attack Player of the Year.
