Speech by women's basketball senior guard CeCe Green (Boonton, N.J./Boonton)

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson Department of Intercollegiate Athletics recognized the outstanding academic achievements of its student-athletes at a luncheon held March 21 in the University Commons Ballroom.

The Pioneers acknowledged 83 student-athletes who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of least 3.0 while attending WP for a minimum of three semesters.

William Paterson also inducted its sixth class into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student-athlete honor society for juniors and seniors who have a minimum 3.4 GPA.

Senior soccer defender Vincenzo Galvano (Tappan, N.Y./Pearl River) and senior women's basketball guard CeCe Green (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) addressed the gathering that included faculty members invited by the individual student-athletes as well as members of WP's Faculty Athletic Support Team (FAST).

William Paterson interim Provost and Senior Vice president for Academic Affairs Sandy DeYoung and Vice President for Student Development Miki Cammarata were a part of the event as well, presenting the awards to the student-athletes, as was WP President Richard Helldobler, who addressed the group and congratulated them on their successes.
