WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (6-3) won 10 events, four of which came from junior
Anthony Taboadela (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), en route to a 102-34 victory against Purchase (3-4) Nov. 15.
Taboadela's victories came in the 200 free (1:54.17), 100 free (52.75), 500 free (5:32.51) and 400 IM (4:45.55).
Junior
Sammuel Melendez (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) was a double winner, securing the 200 IM (2:13.91) and 100 breast (1:08.40).
WP was also aided by three single winners. Sophomore
Drew Macchia (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) touched first in the 50 free (23.08), senior
Nick Cowie (Newton, N.J./Newton) won the 100 fly (55.31), and senior
Grant Ashcraft (Penns Grove, N.J./Woodstown) took home the 100 back (1:01.27).
Macchia also anchored WP's victory in the 200 medley relay that featured Ashcraft, Cowie and Melendez (1:48.21).
Senior
Jeremy Oiler (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham), freshman
Terrence Hopkins (Landing, N.J./Roxbury), Ashcraft and freshman
Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) prevailed in the 200 free relay (1:43.41).
WP will be back in action when it hosts Brooklyn Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1:00 p.m.
