GALLOWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (4-4, 2-1 NJAC) suffered its first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) loss, a 4-2 decision at Richard Stockton (4-3-1, 2-1 NJAC) Sept. 22.

After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers struck first when Naeem Boucher (Paterson, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) scored from 15 yards out at the 56:39 mark off an assist from Dan Patton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken).  Stockton answered just 22 seconds later when Pat Rafferty gathered a loose ball in front of the net and tied the match, 1-1.

The Ospreys then notched the next three goals to put the contest out of reach. Clevon McPherson headed in a pass from Peter Turowski for a 2-1 lead in the 68th minute.  Anthony Procopio tallied on a breakaway pass from Anthony Maruca less than eight minutes later, and Jared Ruff closed out the Osprey string with a marker after Procopio crossed the ball in front during the 88th minute of play.

Freshman Josh Basket (Oak Ridge, N.J./West Milford) scored his first career goal 39 seconds later on a header assisted by Teddy Benedict (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.).

Sophomore goalkeeper Santiago Mesa (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) made four saves for the Pioneers, and Bob Millar had five stops for Richard Stockton.
