PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team placed seventh of 10 Division III teams at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19 at Rutgers University.
Sophomore
Jason Koros (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) placed second in the 200 back B Final (1:57.70). He established a new school record in the prelims with a swim of 1:56.52, bettering the previous best time of 1:57.05 (Steve Papendick, 2003-04).
Sophomore
Jeffrey Jaeckel (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) finished fourth in the three-meter dive (320.05).
In the 1,650 free, senior
Edward Zappile (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) was 11th (17:34.63), sophomore
Troy Buglio (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) touched 14th (17:43.28), sophomore
Alex Carpenter (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) finished 18th (18:34.43) and sophomore
Mert Cagar (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) placed 20th (19:06.64).
Senior
Brian Birkbeck (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit), junior
Sebastian Schrils (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional), Koros and Carpenter were sixth in the 400 free relay B Final (3:22.28).
