BOX SCORE

CAMDEN, N.J. – Five first-half goals gave William Paterson (5-0-1) a 5-0 victory against Hunter (0-3-1) in the second round of Rutgers-Camden's Cialella Soccer Classic Sept. 11.

Senior Anthony Ferrer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) was named the tournament's Offensive MVP after scoring three goals during the two matches, including a pair against the Hawks. Freshman Marcus Hackett II (Montclair, N.J./Immaculate Conception) was the Defensive MVP.

Ferrer sent a cross to freshman Matt Lopuski (Montville, N.J./Montville Twp.), and the rookie tucked it in at the right post just 2:23 into the contest. Six minutes later, the tables were turned, as Lopuski chipped a ball into the box for Ferrer, who headed it into the net.

Ferrer got his second goal of the day when his diving header of a Jake Weinberg (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) pass made it a 3-0 contest in the 17th minute.

Lopuski netted his second goal of the match when he headed in a Joe Maddolin (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) chip in the 30th minute, and junior Naeem Boucher (Paterson, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) finished the scoring 10 minutes later when he sliced through the box and beat the Hunter keeper for his team-leading seventh goal of the year.  Boucher was named to the All-Tournament Team, as was sophomore Karl Schroeder (Long Valley, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's).

Senior goalkeeper Zach Collins (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) and freshman Ben Horowitz (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) combined for the shutout without needing to make a save, as WP won its fifth straight match. Zade Haobsh had seven stops for Hunter.

William Paterson will open New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play Saturday, Sept. 18, when it hosts New Jersey City at 1:00 p.m.
