Anthony Ferrer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Atlantic Region First Team, while junior back
Michael Encarnacion (Franklin, N.J./Passaic County Tech) was a second-team honoree, the group announced Dec. 15.
Named the 2011 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Midfielder of the Year as well as a member of the All-NJAC First Team, Ferrer was an honorable-mention all-league pick in 2009. He led WP with 14 goals and 34 points this fall and started in all 22 matches for the Pioneers. In the NJAC statistics, he ranked tied for second in points (tied-37th in Division III), tied for third in goals (tied-36th nationally), fourth in goals/match (0.64) and points/match (1.55), tied for fourth in assists, seventh in assists/match (0.27) and tied for seventh in game-winning goals (three). The Oct. 3 NJAC and ECAC Metro Player of the Week and the Cialella Soccer Classic Offensive MVP (Sept. 10-11), Ferrer had 25 goals and 12 assists for 62 points in 60 career matches (58 starts).
Encarnacion, selected to the All-NJAC First Team in 2011 and an honorable-mention all-league honoree in 2010, started in 21 of 22 matches and led WP with seven assists this year. Tied for second in assists and tied for fourth in assists/match (0.32) in the conference statistics, he added a goal this fall for nine points. Encarnacion has two goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 59 career matches (55 starts).
William Paterson finished 14-4-4 overall and 4-2-2 in conference play this fall, advancing to the ECAC Metro Tournament final.
