Men’s Swimming & Diving Earns 89-78 Victory

Pioneers Defeat Purchase

Sophomore Jason Koros was one of four double winners for the Pioneers, touching first in the 200 IM (2:14.6) and 100 back (59.4) during an 89-78 victory against Purchase.

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team improved to 2-1 this season with an 89-78 victory against Purchase (0-2) Oct. 31.

Sophomore Jason Koros (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) was one of four double winners for the Pioneers, touching first in the 200 IM (2:14.6) and 100 back (59.4).  Classmate Jeffrey Jaeckel (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) won the one-meter (176.12) and three-meter (161.47) dives.

Senior Brian Birkbeck (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit) finished first in the 100 (54.3) and 200 (1:59.9) frees, while senior Edward Zappile (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) won the 500 (5:32.2) and 1,000 (11:13.8) frees.

Freshman Donado Dervishi (Garfield, N.J./Garfield) placed first in the 100 breast (1:07.25), and junior Sebastian Schrils (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) won the 50 free (23.7).

The Pioneers will compete at Maritime Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 6:00 p.m.
