Valerio Named to D3soccer.com All-America Third Team

Senior Forward Adds to List of Awards

Senior Julian Valerio was a third-team D3soccer.com all-American after posting 26 points this fall.
WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson senior forward Julian Valerio (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) added to his list of postseason honors with a spot on the D3soccer.com All-America Third Team released on Jan. 7.

The first player in Pioneer history to earn a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Subaru Division III Men's Soccer All-America First Team, Valerio was selected as the 2010 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Pat Baldiserra Midfielder of the Year. He was a first-team NSCAA all-South Atlantic Region and all-conference pick this fall, and was previously named to the 2008-09 All-NJAC First Teams, the 2008 NSCAA All-Metro Region First Team, and the 2009 NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Second Team and All-ECAC Metro First Team. The Oct. 11 NJAC Offensive Player of the Week and a starter in 20 of 21 matches this fall, he led William Paterson with nine goals, eight assists and 26 points. Fourth in points, tied for fourth in assists, fifth in points/match (1.24) and assists/match (0.38), and tied for seventh in goals in the conference, he started in 71 of 75 career matches and collected 32 goals, 99 points and a school-record 35 assists.

William Paterson finished the 2010 season 14-4-3 overall and 6-2-1 in conference play, reaching the semifinals of the NJAC Tournament and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
