WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore softball shortstop Katelyn Miele (Flanders, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week for March 26.
Miele had team bests of a .591 (13-22) batting average, seven runs scored, three doubles, a triple, one grand slam, .625 on-base percentage and .955 slugging percentage during six contests at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. She was 2-for-4 with a RBI and run scored during a 6-4 loss to No. 1 Luther March 19, and went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBI and a pair of runs scored in a 12-3, six-inning win against New Paltz March 19. Miele was 3-for-4 with her first career home run, a grand slam, and two runs scored and six RBI during an 11-1, five-inning victory against Kalamazoo March 21, and she posted totals of 5-for-8 at the plate, two doubles, three RBI and a pair of runs scored March 22 in wins against Oneonta State (6-4, nine innings) and Thomas (7-0).
