WAYNE, N.J. – Senior softball pitcher Gabrielle Castelli (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) was selected as the April 17 William Paterson Pioneer of the Week.
Castelli was 3-0 with a 0.72 earned-run average last week, allowing 15 hits, two runs and a pair of walks while striking out 12 over 19.1 innings. She tossed a 3-1 complete-game victory at Montclair State April 11, posting two strikeouts while scattering five hits. In a 9-2 win at St. Joseph’s-Long Island April 12, Castelli pitched 5.1 shutout innings and struck out six while giving up four hits. She finished the week with a 2-1 complete-game victory April 14 against No. 14 Kean, allowing six hits while registering four strikeouts.
