WAYNE, N.J. – Baseball senior center fielder Mike Abate (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) was selected as the March 20 William Paterson Pioneer of the Week.
Abate hit .444 (8-18) during six games last week, posting two doubles, a pair of home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored. He also drew six walks, compiling a .583 on-base percentage and an .889 slugging percentage. Abate went 2-for-3 with a solo homer March 14 against Springfield, and finished 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored March 16 against No. 6 Wisconsin-Whitewater. He also was 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored during an 11-5 victory against RPI March 17.
