GLASSBORO, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (7-6, 1-1 NJAC) was defeated, 3-0, at Rowan (11-2, 1-0 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Makyda Aldrich recorded her second kill of the opening set to trim an early deficit to one (10-9). However, the Profs outscored WP, 15-7, the rest of the way to earn the 25-16 victory.
- Despite trailing by five (20-15) late in the second set, a kill by freshman Presley Weber (McKinney, Texas/Emerson) started a 4-1 WP run that pulled the Pioneers within two (22-20). The two sides traded points until Rowan eventually secured the 25-22 win.
- Rowan built an early advantage in the third set with a 13-4 run and never surrendered the lead en route to capturing the 25-18 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Aldrich logged a team-best eight kills to go with a pair of blocks.
- Senior Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) had seven kills while adding 10 digs.
- Junior Bella Demers (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) posted a 12-dig outing.
- Freshman Sara Rogers (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek) and senior Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished with 17 and 13 assists, respectively.
UP NEXT:
- William Paterson will play host to New Paltz Thursday, Oct. 1, for a 7:00 p.m. conference contest at the Sports and Recreation Center.
