WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (7-5, 1-0 NJAC) opened New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play with a 3-0 home victory against Stockton (8-3, 0-1 NJAC) Sept. 22 at the Sports and Recreation Center.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Pioneers trailed by two (11-9) in the first set before a kill by sophomore Riley Elliott (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Oak Ridge) sparked a 12-3 run to go ahead by seven (21-14). Stockton responded with a 7-2 run, but WP held on for the 25-22 victory.
• A kill by freshman Presley Weber (McKinney, Texas/Emerson) in the second set gave the Pioneers a five-point lead (20-15). The Ospreys scored four unanswered points to pull within one (20-19). WP countered with a 5-1 run to capture the 25-21 win.
• Stockton used a 6-1 run in the third set to even the score at 19-19. The two sides went back and forth until a kill by junior Makayda Aldrich (Robbinsdale, Minn./Brooklyn Center) sealed the 25-23 victory.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Senior Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) recorded a double-double, logging 11 kills and 13 digs.
• Elliott notched 11 kills and four digs.
• Weber posted a career-best 10 kills.
• Junior Bella Demers (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) tallied a match-high 21 digs.
• Freshman Sara Rogers (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek) had 20 assists.
• Senior Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished with 18 assists and five digs.
