WAYNE, N.J. – The top two seeds in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament will meet in the title game when the No. 23/17 William Paterson women's basketball team (25-1, 18-0 NJAC) hosts The College of New Jersey (16-10, 14-4 NJAC) Sunday, March 1, at the Sports and Recreation Center at 1:00 p.m.
 
TICKET INFORMATION
  • Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE
  • Ticket prices are $11.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors (65+), children and William Paterson students with a valid WP ID
  • Free tickets will be granted to the first 100 William Paterson students with a valid WP ID who attend the NJAC title game against TCNJ (no e-ticket required) courtesy of the division of student development
  • All other spectators must present a QR code on their phone or on a printed ticket by purchasing online in advance
  • All ticket sales are electronic only. NO CASH SALES will be available at any venue throughout the tournament

  • The winner of the matchup between William Paterson and The College of New Jersey will receive an automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
 
WP IN THE NJAC TOURNAMENT
  • The Pioneers are seeking their fourth conference title (1993, 2011, 2012).

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
  • After William Paterson recorded one of its most historic regular seasons in program history with a 24-1 overall record and an 18-0 mark in conference play, the top-seeded Pioneers secured a 67-57 home victory over fourth-seeded Stockton Feb. 26 in the semifinals.
  • WP is making its first appearance in the NJAC Tournament title game since the 2012-13 campaign.
  • The Pioneers enter the championship game on a 15-game win streak.
  • WP has posted a flawless 12-0 record at the Sports and Recreation Center this season.
  • Senior Renee Wells (Leonardo, N.J./Middletown South), who was named the NJAC Player of the Year, shined in the semifinal round matchup with the Ospreys, finishing with a game-high 29 points and a season-best 13 rebounds for her second double-double this season. The Leonardo, N.J., native averages a team-best 17.3 points per contest while registering 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
  • Junior Jada Jacobs (Mount Laurel, N.J./Medford Tech), the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year, dished out eight assists and reeled in eight boards to go with three steals versus Stockton. She has totaled 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per tilt while leading the team with 3.9 assists and 3.5 steals per game. 
  • Senior Patty Walsh (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) recorded five blocks and six rebounds against the Ospreys in the semifinals. She averages 10.8 points and a team-best 6.7 boards and 2.0 blocks per outing.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
  • TCNJ went 15-10 overall and 14-4 in the conference during the regular season, earning the second seed in the NJAC Tournament.
  • The Lions are 8-1 in their last nine outings, including a 79-58 home victory over Rutgers-Camden Feb. 26 in the semifinals.
  • Sophomore Amanda Blaylock, the Lions' lone first-team all-conference selection, leads the team with 14.2 points per game while contributing 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals per contest. She finished with a game-high 15 points in the semifinal win against the Scarlet Raptors.  
  • Senior Katie Fricker was named to the All-NJAC Second Team and averages 11.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 steals per outing.
 
EARLIER THIS SEASON
  • William Paterson earned a series sweep during the regular season against the Lions, securing a 64-54 decision in Ewing, N.J., on Nov. 25 before claiming a 61-47 home win on Jan. 21.  
  • Wells averaged 28.5 points per game on 45-percent shooting (19-of-42) and 8.5 rebounds per tilt across the two meetings, which included a career-high 35-point performance to pair with 10 boards in the first matchup.
