WAYNE, N.J. – Steve Rybak returns to William Paterson as the new assistant football coach in March 2025.

"I am very excited to welcome Steve to our coaching staff," William Paterson head football coach Shaun Williams said. "He brings experience as an assistant and a head coach, going above and beyond for his players. He genuinely cares about the success of his student-athletes on and off the field. His reputation and coaching connections in New Jersey and New York will be valuable in bringing in talent from both regions."

Rybak, who was on the Pioneers' staff during the 2016 campaign, brings over 18 years of coaching experience from both the high school and college ranks.

"I would like to thank the athletic director Kristen Foley, the hiring committee and Coach Williams for this opportunity," Ryback said. "I am excited to get to work and win some football games."

He most recently spent the past two seasons as the running backs coach at Montclair State University. During his first season with the program in 2023, two Red Hawk running backs received all-conference honors.

Prior to his time at Montclair State, he was the run game coordinator and offensive line coach at North Rockland High School in 2022.

Before North Rockland, Rybak was elevated to the head coaching position at Paramus Catholic High School in 2021 after spending one season as the assistant head coach.

In 2016, he joined the WP coaching staff, primarily overseeing the offensive line.

He also made coaching stops at Bergen Catholic High School and Bergen Tech High School.

Rybak's teams have made seven State Championship appearances, winning two of them.
