Men's Swimming and Diving Concludes NJAC Championship in Ninth Place

HAMPTON, V.A. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team finished in ninth place with 183 points after the final day of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship on Feb. 16.
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • The WP quartet of freshman Mario Pontidis (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex), sophomore Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional), senior Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech), and senior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) placed ninth in the 400 free relay, finishing with a time of 1:47.68.
  • Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) finished the 1650 free with a time of 17:39.86.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • During the 1650 free preliminary round, freshman Christian Scerbo (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) (21:37.45) and Melli (17:39.86) shredded time off their personal bests.
  • Pontidis (50.54) and freshman Ismael Lamar (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) (55:54) posted new personal records in the 100 free preliminary round.
  • In the preliminary round of the 200 breast, Melli shaved time off his previous best (02:05.86).
  • Sophomore Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) recorded a new personal record in the 200 fly (02:05.86).
