Men's Swimming and Diving Holds Ninth Place After Day Three of NJAC Championship

HAMPTON, V.A. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team sits in ninth place with 168 points to conclude day two of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship on Feb. 15.

TOP PERFORMERS:
  • The WP quartet of freshman Derek Gutowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxburry), sophomore Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), senior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), and freshman Mario Pontidis (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) placed ninth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.68.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • During the 200 free preliminary round, freshman Ismael Lamar (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) (2:05.37) and senior Garrett D'Elia (Maywood, N.J./Hackensack) (2:15.04) shredded time off their personal bests.
  • D'Elia earned a new personal record in the 100 back preliminary round (02:15.04).
  • In the 100 breast preliminary round, Pontidis (1:03.94) and sophomore Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) (01:09.35) posted new personal bests.
  • Sophomore Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) earned a personal record in the 100 fly preliminary round (1:00.18).
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson returns to the Hampton Aquaplex for the final day of the NJAC Championship on Sunday, Feb. 16, with session one beginning at 9:30 a.m. and session two at 5:00 p.m.
