Men's Swimming and Diving Sits in Ninth after Day Two of NJAC Championship

HAMPTON, V.A. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team sits in ninth place with 128 points to conclude day two of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship on Feb. 13.

TOP PERFORMERS:
  • The WP quartet of Pontidis, Melli, senior Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech), and sophomore Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) placed eigth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.27.
  • In the 400 medley relay, freshman Derek Gutowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxburry), senior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), Melli, and Potidis finished in eigth place, clocking in at 3:58.83.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • In the preliminary round of the 50 free, freshman Mario Pontidis (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) posted a new personal best (22.39).
  • Sophomore Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) earned a personal record in the 200 IM preliminary round (2:24.05).
  • During the 500 free preliminary round, sophomore Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) (04:59.59) and freshman Christian Scerbo (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) (6:16.10) shredded time off their personal bests.
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson returns to the Hampton Aquaplex for day three of the NJAC Championship on Saturday, Feb. 15, with session one beginning at 9:30 a.m. and session two at 5:30 p.m.
