PURCHASE, N.Y. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (4-1) secured a road victory against Purchase (0-1), 103-48, Friday, Nov. 1.

TOP PERFORMERS:

• Freshman Derek Gutowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxburry) finished first in the 1000 free (12:04.28).
• Sophomore Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) touched the wall first in the 200 free (1:58.43).
• Freshman Isaiah Pierre (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) placed first in the 50 yard free (24.69).
• Freshman Mario Pontidis (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) earned two first-place finishes in the 100 free (53.04) and 200 IM (2:15.90).
• Senior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) posted a first-place finish in the 100 fly (1:00.17).
• The Pioneers secured the 200 medley relay with efforts by Gutowski, Sophomore Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), Pierre, and Pontidis, with a time of 2:08:65.
