Twelve Pioneers Earn All-NJAC Football Team Honors

PITMAN, N.J. – Twelve Pioneers were named to the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Football Team Nov. 17.

It marks the third time in the last four campaigns that double-digit Pioneers received all-conference recognition in a single season. Seniors Devyn Blount (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch), Taz Burton (Millville, N.J./Bridgeton), Matt Clarke (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) and Yubir Rojas-Herrera (Matawan, N.J./Matawan Regional) along with sophomore Tyreek Rollins (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) and junior Samod Wingo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) collected first-team honors. Senior Alajuwon Bell (Paterson, N.J./Garrett Morgan Academy), sophomore Jayce Harmon (Milford, Del./Sussex Tech) and seniors RJ Massey (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge) and Peyton Willey (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Technical) earned the second-team nod. Additionally, senior Ariel Higuera (Union City, N.J./Union City) and junior Jojo Kirby (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) garnered honorable mention accolades.

Devyn Blount (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch): All-NJAC First Team
Blount, now a five-time all-conference honoree, finished second on the team with 58 tackles (53 solo) with seven pass breakups and five interceptions. In six NJAC outings, he had 30 tackles (25 solo) with three passes defended and an interception. The senior defensive back capped his career as the program's all-time leader in passes defended with 42.

Taz Burton (Millville, N.J./Bridgeton): All-NJAC First Team
Burton made his first appearance on the all-conference first team after earning second-team recognition each of the last two seasons. The senior recorded 494 receiving yards on 25 receptions with five touchdowns. During conference action, he totaled 19 receptions with 315 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His 52.5 receiving yards/game ranked ninth in the NJAC.

Matt Clarke (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch): All-NJAC First Team
Clarke, a four-time all-conference performer, paced the Pioneers in receptions (45), receiving yards (674) and receiving touchdowns (seven). In six NJAC outings, he compiled 453 yards on 33 receptions with four scores while logging three games with over 100 receiving yards. Clarke ranked second in the NJAC in receptions, receiving yards, receiving yards/game (75.5), receptions/game (5.5) and tied for third in receiving touchdowns.

Yubir Rojas-Herrera (Matawan, N.J./Matawan Regional): All-NJAC First Team
Rojas-Herrera earned the first all-NJAC honor of his career after totaling 48 tackles (27 solo, 14 TFL) with a team-best six sacks. He posted 26 of his stops (13 solo, seven TFL) with 2.5 sacks in six conference outings. Rojas-Herrera finished tied for third in the NJAC in tackles for loss.

Tyreek Rollins (Ewing, N.J./Ewing): All-NJAC First Team
Rollins received his first all-conference honor after he returned 17 kicks for 390 yards and a touchdown while adding five punt returns for 40 yards. In conference play, he ranked second in the NJAC in kick return yards (246) and fourth in yards/return (20.5). Rollins additionally contributed on the offensive end with three receptions for 84 yards and a score.   

Samod Wingo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick): All-NJAC First Team
Wingo finished his junior campaign with a team-best 66 tackles (44 solo, 13.0 TFL) en route to receiving all-conference recognition for the second consecutive year. In his six NJAC games, he logged 49 stops (34 solo) with a conference-best 11.5 tackles for loss. His 8.2 tackles/game average was good for fourth in the NJAC.

Alajuwon Bell (Paterson, N.J./Garrett Morgan Academy): All-NJAC Second Team
Bell received second-team honors for the second straight season after recording 53 tackles (32 solo, 10.5 TFL) with three pass breakups and two interceptions. During six conference outings, he totaled 28 tackles (16 solo, five TFL) with five passes defended.

Jayce Harmon (Milford, Del./Sussex Tech): All-NJAC Second Team
Harmon received his first all-conference nod after finishing with 55 tackles (37 solo, 7.5 TFL), four pass breakups, three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. In his six NJAC outings, he ranked third in the conference in tackles (50) and finished tied for sixth in tackles for loss (seven) and sacks (three).

RJ Massey (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge): All-NJAC Second Team
Massey collected the first all-NJAC honor of his career after averaging a conference-best 10.8 yards on punt returns during his senior campaign. He returned nine punts for 97 yards while adding four kick returns for 77 yards. He contributed heavily on the defensive end as well, logging 34 tackles (23 solo, two TFL) in six conference outings.

Peyton Willey (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Technical): All-NJAC Second Team
Willey started all 10 games at right tackle during his senior campaign and earned his first all-conference honor.  

Ariel Higuera (Union City, N.J./Union City): All-NJAC Honorable Mention
Higuera made eight starts at left guard for the Pioneers and was recognized as an all-conference performer for the third time in his career. He played in five of six NJAC games during his senior campaign.

Jojo Kirby (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen): All-NJAC Honorable Mention
Kirby was named to the all-conference team for the second time in his career after totaling 40 tackles (31 solo, three TFL) with four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown. In his six NJAC outings, he tallied 19 tackles.
