Men's Swimming and Diving Drops Final Home Meet to Western Connecticut State

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (10-6) lost to Western Connecticut State (9-2) in their final home meet of the season, 110-86, on Saturday, Jan. 28.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Freshman Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) took first place in the 100 back (58.83).
  • The Pioneers were victorious in the 200 free relay, with efforts by juniors Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech), Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech), Jason Peralta (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) and Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), finishing with a time of 1:48.24.
  • Junior Jackson Forrest (Lewes, Del./Wayne Valley) earned the Pioneers nine points in the one meter dive, earning a final score of 182.45.
  • Forrest secured an additional nine points in the three meter dive with a final score of 205.06.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arias crushed his personal best in the 1,000 free, finishing 14.08 seconds earlier (11:37.59). He also took 11.68 seconds off his personal record in the 500 free (5:30.64).
  • Forrest placed two personal records in the one meter dive (182.45) and three meter dive (205.06).
  • Byrd's first-place finish in the 100 back was a personal best (58.83). He also earned a personal record in the 100 breast (1:13.70).

  • William Paterson travels to Montclair on Tuesday, Jan. 31 for a 5:00 p.m. NJAC meet.
