Courtnaey Chelf (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) and baseball graduate student outfielder
AJ Flores (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) garnered spots on the 2014-15 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Academic First Team, leading a list of 56 WP honorees.
Softball senior outfielder
Kelsey Principe (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) and football senior offensive lineman
Jake Stockton-Rossini (Ship Bottom, N.J./Southern Regional) were second-team selections, while 52 other Pioneers received honorable-mention laurels.
Chelf was a member of the 2014 All-NJAC Honorable Mention after leading WP with six goals and 17 points while starting all 18 contests this year. Tied for the team high with five assists, she also tied for fifth in the league statistics with three defensive saves this fall, and finished her career tied for fourth in assists (17) on the WP charts. The communication and psychology major was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student-athlete honor society, and was selected to the 2012, 2013 and 2014 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squads and the 2012-13 and 2013-14 NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mentions. A Spring 2012, Fall 2012, Spring 2013, Fall 2013, Spring 2014, Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 Dean's List student, Chelf is an Army ROTC cadet.
Flores hit .298 in 2015 with seven doubles, 30 RBI, 25 runs scored and 12 stolen bases while starting all 34 games. Selected to the 2013 All-NJAC, ECAC All-Metro Region and New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) All-State First Teams, as well as the D3baseball.com and Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Teams, he is first in at-bats (639), third in hits (211), fourth in stolen bases (60), tied-sixth in triples (10) and seventh in runs scored (149) on the WP career charts. Flores graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in history (secondary education) in May of 2014, and is currently completing a certification in teachers of students with disabilities. A member of the 2013 Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division III Baseball Academic All-America Second Team, he was named to the 2012, 2013 and 2015 Capital One/CoSIDA Baseball Academic All-District 2 Teams. A Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011, Spring 2012, Spring 2013 and Fall 2013 Dean's List student and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, he also garnered spots on the 2011-12 and 2012-13 NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mentions and was the 2015 winner of WP's Ralph E. Smith Award, given to the graduating senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA.
Seniors Kelsey Principe and Jake Stockton-Rossini
were second team all-academic selections.Principe was a member of the 2015 All-NJAC First Team, ECAC All-Metro Region Team and National Fastpitch Coaches of America (NFCA) All-East Region Third Team after hitting .315 with a team-best 13 sacrifice bunts and five triples while compiling a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage (60 putouts, five assists), starting all 44 games in center field. Sixth at WP in career triples (10), she was named to the 2014 Capital One/CoSIDA Softball Academic All-District 2 Team and was a 2012-13 and 2013-14 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. Selected to the 2012-13 and 2013-14 Academic All-NJAC Honorable Mentions and a Chi Alpha Sigma inductee, Principe was a Spring 2013, Spring 2014 and Fall 2014 Dean's List student and graduated cum laude this spring with a bachelor's in physical education.
Stockton-Rossini competed in 20 career games on the WP offensive line, starting all 10 contests at center as a senior. Named to the 2014 Capital One/CoSIDA Football Academic All-District 2 Team and inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, he was a member of the 2012-13 and 2013-14 NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mentions. A Fall 2011, Spring 2012, Fall 2012, Spring 2013, Fall 2013, Spring 2014, Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 Dean's List student, Stockton-Rossini graduated magna cum laude this spring with a double major in legal studies and Earth science, and will be attending law school at Rutgers-Camden this fall.
To be eligible for the NJAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior who competed in a conference-sponsored sport during the last year and achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.20.
