Aubrey Pellerin (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) scored her second goal of the year but the William Paterson field hockey team (1-4) dropped a 2-1 decision at DeSales (1-3) Sept. 13.
The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first when Rachel Wysocky redirected a penalty-corner pass from Alyssa Knappenberger in the seventh minute.
Pellerin evened things up less than 17 minutes later when she dribbled through the defense and scored to the lower-right corner.
DeSales got the game winner with less than 10 minutes remaining, as Alison Malatesta knocked in a rebound of a
Meghan Trivett (Highlands, N.J./Middletown North) save.
Trivett had two stops for William Paterson, and Victoria DelToro made five save for DeSales.
The Pioneers will open New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play Friday, Sept. 16, hosting No. 6 The College of New Jersey at 7:00 p.m.
