Elia hit a combined .800 (4-5) with two doubles, three runs scored and a RBI in a season-opening doubleheader sweep of Worcester State March 7. During the opening 5-4 victory, he was 2-for-3 with a double, and his RBI-single plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning. He was then 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an assist from center field in a 12-1 win during the night cap.
