WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman women’s swimmer Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) was named the Feb. 17 William Paterson Pioneer of the Week.
Blazevska broke two school records while competing at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 14-16 in Piscataway, N.J. She touched seventh in the 400 IM A Final (4:49.02) after breaking the school record in the preliminary round (4:47.89), and established a new WP best when she was the top Division III performer in the 200 breast A Final, placing fifth overall (2:26.84).
Blazevska was third in the 100 breast B Final with a time of 1:08.99, and contributed to three Pioneer relays -- 11th in the 400 medley relay (4:14.63), fifth in the 400 free relay B Final (3:55.56), and 14th in the 200 free relay (1:46.07).
