WAYNE, N.J. – Women’s basketball sophomore forward April Smith (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week Jan. 19.

 

Smith averaged 17.0 points and 11.5 rebounds during a 2-0 week for the Pioneers, shooting 57 percent from the field and 83 percent from the line. She posted 24 points and 19 rebounds in 28 minutes during a 72-54 victory against Ramapo Jan. 14, just three rebounds shy of the WP single-game record. Smith was 8-for-15 from the field and 8-for-10 from the line against the Roadrunners. She then had 10 points and four rebounds in 16 minutes during a 91-40 win at Rutgers-Camden Jan. 17.
