Baseball Drops NJAC Contest to TCNJ

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson baseball team (15-20, 7-9 NJAC) dropped a 7-3 decision to The College of New Jersey (16-21, 6-10 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game April 24 at Jeff Albies Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lions plated a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to jump out to an early 2-0 advantage.
  • WP loaded the bases with two outs in the second before a wild pitch allowed a run to score, trimming the deficit to one (2-1).
  • Three consecutive one-out singles in the sixth loaded the bases for the Pioneers, setting up sophomore Alex Gomez (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) for a sacrifice fly to even the score at 2-2. Back-to-back walks followed to put WP ahead, 3-2.
  • Four runs crossed for the Lions in the eighth inning to give TCNJ the 6-3 lead.
  • The Lions pushed one final run across in the ninth, extending the advantage to four (7-3).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
