#RV/24 Women's Basketball Coasts to 93-33 Win Versus Medgar Evers

BALTIMORE – The #RV/24 William Paterson women's basketball team (11-1, 5-0 NJAC) wrapped up non-conference play with a 93-33 win over Medgar Evers (2-10, 1-1 CUNYAC) in the JHU Women's Basketball Classic Jan. 4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The two sides were even at 6-6 with 6:05 on the clock in the first quarter before the Pioneers closed out the frame on a 19-2 run to go ahead by 17 (25-8).
  • Medgar Evers opened the second quarter with five unanswered points, but WP countered with a 19-2 run to take a 44-15 advantage into the halftime break.
  • WP continued to build on its double-digit advantage and cruised to the 93-33 bounce-back win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Menna Hafiz (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) scored a career-high 16 points on 6-of-7 (.857) shooting with six rebounds, three assists and a career-best four steals.
  • Senior Renee Wells (Leonardo, N.J./Middletown South) finished with 17 points, six steals and a career-high eight assists.
  • Junior Jada Jacobs (Mount Laurel, N.J./Medford Tech) totaled 13 points, six steals and three assists.
  • Sophomore Kasey Slade (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) chipped in with a career-high 11 points and 10 rebounds, adding two steals and a pair of blocks.
  • The Pioneers recorded 35 steals as a team.
