Volleyball Extends Win Streak After 3-1 Home Victory Against Muhlenberg

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (9-5, 1-0 NJAC) extended its win streak to seven after securing a 3-1 home victory over Muhlenberg (7-9, 0-0 Centennial) Sept. 25 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • A few early errors put the Pioneers behind, 7-5, in the opening set. However, WP bounced back and used a 16-6 run to go ahead by eight (21-13). The Mules pulled within five (24-19), but freshman Riley Elliott (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Oak Ridge) recorded a kill to win the set.
  • The Pioneers were in control for most of the second set, cruising to a 22-9 advantage before securing the 25-13 victory.
  • Muhlenberg owned a 16-12 lead in the third set before a 4-1 spurt by WP brought the Pioneers within a point (17-16). The Mules maintained a slim advantage the rest of the way to capture the 25-21 win.
  • It was a back-and-forth fourth set until Muhlenberg extended its lead to four (20-16). Both sides traded 3-0 runs and the deficit remained four (23-19) for WP. However, a kill by junior Kristian Glenn (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) sparked a 6-0 run that helped the Pioneers claim the 25-23 come-from-behind set victory.

  • Glenn finished with 12 kills.
  • Junior Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) recorded 29 assists, 14 digs and eight kills.
