Baseball Belts Out Eight Extra-Base Hits During 15-7 Victory Against Manhattanville

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson's (18-17) offense churned out 14 hits, including eight for extra bases, for a 15-7 baseball victory against visiting Manhattanville (16-16) April 22

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Two singles and a groundout handed the Valiants a 1-0 first-inning edge.
  • The Pioneers answered with five runs during their first at-bat. Junior third baseman Dylan Santos (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) was hit by a two-out pitch and stole second before sophomore left fielder Stephen Kubis (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) walked. Sophomore designated hitter Ty Kobylakiewicz (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) doubled in both runners, senior second baseman Tom Radigan (Verona, N.J./Verona) walked, junior catcher Eliot Germanson (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia) hit a two-run double down the left-field line and junior right fielder Thomas Jova (Gillette, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) added a run-scoring triple for a 5-1 margin.
  • Sophomore shortstop Devin Daproza (Englewood, N.J./Leonia) opened the second with a base on balls, senior center fielder Braden Ramirez (Middlesex, N.J./Union Catholic) reached on a fielder's choice, Santos doubled and Kubis tripled, adding two to WP's tally.
  • Manhattanville made it a 7-2 game in the third with a triple and groundout.
  • Two errors and a Daproza walk loaded the bases for Santos, who belted a grand slam to left center, creating an 11-2 advantage after three frames.
  • The Valiants crossed the plate four times during the top half of the fifth, 11-6.
  • Daproza started the seventh with a base on balls, stolen base and error, then trotted home on a Ramirez base hit. Three batters later, Koblakiewicz's homer to center pushed the lead to 14-6.
  • Eighth-inning base hits by freshman pinch hitter Leo Spitaleri (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) and senior first baseman Giovanni Aresta (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) put runners on the corners for junior pinch hitter Angel Colon (Hawthorne, N.J./St. Joseph's Regional), who singled to center field for a 15-6 score.
  • An error, double and groundout finished the scoring for Manhattanville during the top of the ninth inning.
