Baseball Drops 5-3 Decision to Ramapo

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson baseball team (16-11, 1-7 NJAC) dropped a 5-3 home decision to Ramapo (20-7, 5-3 NJAC) April 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead when senior center fielder Braden Ramirez (Middlesex, N.J./Union Catholic) tripled to right center and sophomore first baseman Ty Kobylakiewicz (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) immediately followed with a homer down the left-field line, his first round-tripper of the year.
  • WP added one more during the home half of the second, using a walk by senior second baseman Tom Radigan (Verona, N.J./Verona), two wild pitches, a base on balls by sophomore second baseman Devin Daproza (Englewood, N.J./Leonia) and a successful double steal.
  • The Roadrunners tied the game at 3-3 with a three-run third inning.
  • Ramapo jumped ahead in the fourth, stringing together a single, stolen base, walk, wild pitch and fielder's choice, plating one run for a 4-3 edge.
  • A sacrifice fly during the top half of the seventh inning extended the Roadrunners' advantage to 5-3.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Kobylakiewicz was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, while Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a tiple and run scored.
