Baseball Secures 7-5 Home Win Against Arcadia

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson baseball team (3-0) held on to an early lead and claimed a 7-5 home win against Arcadia (1-2) Feb. 26 at Jeff Albies Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth before an RBI infield single by junior Dylan Santos (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) drove in the first run of the game. A pair of sacrifice flies from junior Angel Colon (Hawthorne, N.J./St. Joseph's Regional) and senior Austin Jack (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) put WP ahead by three (3-0). Senior Braden Ramirez (Middlesex, N.J./Union Catholic) ripped an RBI single up the middle before sophomore Ty Kobylakiewicz (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) cleared the bases with a three-run double to right to extend the lead to seven (7-0).
  • Arcadia trimmed the deficit to five (7-2) after plating two runs in the top of the fifth.
  • The Knights drove in three runs in the seventh to pull within two (7-5).
  • Arcadia had two runners on in the ninth, but sophomore Robert Nathan (Lords Valley, Pa./Vernon Twp.) worked out of the jam to earn the save and give WP the 7-5 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
