Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Rallies Late for 65-60 Win at Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (6-0, 2-0 NJAC) outscored Montclair State (4-1, 1-1 NJAC), 16-4, in the final 4:46 of action to capture a 65-60 come-from-behind New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road victory versus the Red Hawks Dec. 3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers entered the fourth quarter trailing by two (47-45) before a jumper by senior Patty Walsh (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) evened the score with 7:57 left to play.
  • Montclair State reclaimed the lead after a 9-2 run put the Red Hawks in front by seven (56-49) with 5:41 on the clock.
  • William Paterson countered with an 8-2 run before sophomore Kaelyn Gowdy (Fultondale, Ala./Minor) buried a baseline jump shot while drawing a foul for a three-point play to give the Pioneers a two-point edge (60-58) with one minute remaining.
  • WP leaned on Gowdy at the charity stripe the rest of the way and the Fultondale, Ala., native delivered by shooting a flawless 5-for-5 (1.000) to help the Pioneers seal the 65-60 win.
