Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to Rowan

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (11-7, 1-2 NJAC) fell in four sets to Rowan (14-4, 3-0 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match Oct. 7 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The two sides were even at 15-15 in the first set before a 7-2 run put Rowan in front by five (22-17). WP pulled within two (23-21), but the Profs scored back-to-back points to secure the 25-21 victory.
  • The Pioneers trailed by double-digits (19-9) in the second set. Despite WP outscoring the Profs, 7-4, Rowan held on to earn the 25-16 win.
  • Three consecutive points put Rowan in front by three, 13-10, in the third set until a kill by freshman Korinne Bakken (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) sparked a 14-5 run that gave WP a six-point advantage (24-18). The Profs went on a 3-0 surge, but a kill by junior Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) gave the Pioneers the 25-21 victory.
  • Rowan led 21-13 late in the fourth set before going on to claim the 25-16 win.
