Football Drops Conference Game at TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – The William Paterson football team (2-3, 1-1 NJAC) fell 42-0 to The College of New Jersey (4-1, 1-1 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game Oct. 11.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • TCNJ got the ball to begin the game and scored on its opening drive, using six plays to go 60 yards down the field and into the end zone.
  • After forcing a three-and-out, the Lions got the ball back and scored with 5:07 on the clock in the first quarter to extend their advantage to 14-0.
  • With 3:45 left to play in the third quarter, the Lions began a drive at the WP 39. On the ninth play of the drive, TCNJ found the end zone to grab a 21-0 lead.
  • On the ensuing WP drive, the Pioneers fumbled at their own 13-yard line and TCNJ recovered the ball and scored to make it 28-0 with 12:40 remaining in the game.
  • The Lions pieced together two additional scoring drives in the final frame to earn the 42-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior James Nevels (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) recorded a season-high 11 tackles.
  • Senior Anthony Macera (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) made a career-high 10 stops.

  • William Paterson heads to Glassboro, N.J., Saturday, Oct. 18, for a 2:00 p.m. conference game at Rowan.
