Men's Basketball Topped at Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (5-10, 1-7 NJAC) was defeated, 112-72, by Ramapo (12-3, 6-2 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game Jan. 15.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • William Paterson trailed early before going on a 12-6 run with 11:43 on the clock in the first half to pull within two (28-26). However, over the final 7:03 of the stanza, the Roadrunners shot 11-of-15 (.733) from the field and outscored the Pioneers, 30-15, to take a 17-point lead (58-41) into the half.
  • Ramapo continued to build on its lead in the second half before securing the home win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior David Martinez (Maywood, N.J./Hackensack) scored a team-high 20 points on 7-of-14 (.500) shooting with three rebounds and two assists.
  • Senior Neftali Valentin (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) dropped 17 points with five boards and three assists.
  • Senior Andre Wells (Matawan, N.J./Matawan) logged an 11-point outing with three rebounds and a pair of assists.
  • Freshman Delani Hyde (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) corralled eight boards to pair with five points.

  • William Paterson returns to the Sports and Recreation Center Saturday, Jan. 18, for a 3:00 p.m. conference game against Rutgers-Camden.
