Volleyball Cruises to Straight-Set Win at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The William Paterson volleyball team (5-5) cruised to a 25-17, 25-14, 25-15 victory at DeSales (2-9) Sept. 18.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers jumped out an 11-3 first-set lead en route to a 25-17 opening victory, hitting .313 compared to the Bulldogs' .036.
  • WP scored 12 of the first 14 points of the second set, finishing with a 25-14 win.
  • William Paterson quickly turned a 9-4 edge into a 20-10 lead in the third, completing the sweep with a 25-15 victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Graduate student outside hitter/right side Hope Arce-Reed (New Carrollton, Md./College Park Academy) paced the Pioneers with 11 kills.
  • Sophomore middle hitter Kristian Glenn (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) added eight kills.
  • Senior libero Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) had 13 digs, while freshman libero Dilara Pak (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) contributed seven.
  • Sophomore setter Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) dished 31 assists.
  • Freshman middle blocker Makayda Aldrich (Robbinsdale, Minn./Brooklyn Center) chipped in one block solo and four block assists.

  • William Paterson hosts Arcadia and Vassar for a tri-match Saturday, Sept. 21, at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
