Volleyball Sweeps Scranton in Empire State

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The William Paterson volleyball team (4-5) triumphed against Scranton (4-5), emerging with a 3-0 victory Sept. 15.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers led 21-11 after a kill by sophomore Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial). The Royals responded with three unanswered points, but WP closed out the set with another kill by Miller to capture the 25-16 win.

The Royals went ahead 24-22 but the Pioneers regained the lead (25-24) after a pair of Scranton errors and a kill by sophomore Sofia Zablackis (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East). With the two sides tied at 25-25, the Pioneers got decisive kills from Miller and freshman Makayda Aldrich (Robbinsdale, MN/Brooklyn Center) to secure a hard-fought 27-25 victory.
