Men's Basketball Drops Conference Opener to TCNJ

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (3-3, 0-1 NJAC) dropped its New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opener to The College of New Jersey (6-0, 1-0 NJAC) Nov. 26 at the Sports and Recreation Center.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • A layup by senior Andre Wells (Matawan, N.J./Matawan) before the first half came to a close pulled the Pioneers within nine (38-29) heading into the break.
  • However, the Lions opened the second half on a 40-10 run that spanned 11:38 to take a commanding 41-point lead (78-39) before going on to secure the conference win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Wells was 4-of-6 (.667) from the floor for a team-high 11 points.
  • Freshman Jack Gobel (Weehawken, N.J./Weehawken) logged a 10-point outing on 4-of-5 (.800) shooting.
  • Freshman Delani Hyde (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) corralled a team-best seven boards.

  • William Paterson will host Montclair State Wednesday, Dec. 4, for a 7:30 PM conference game.
