Volleyball Drops NJAC Road Tilt to Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (11-7, 2-1 NJAC) dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road match to Rowan (10-7, 2-1 NJAC), 3-0, on Oct. 8.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Profs jumped out to a 17-9 advantage in the opening set. William Paterson pulled within six (24-18) with a late surge but ultimately fell short, 25-18.
  • The Pioneers trailed by two (20-18) before a 5-1 run late in the second set capped by a service ace from senior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) put WP ahead, 23-21. However, Rowan closed out the set on a 4-0 run to secure the 25-23 win.
  • The Profs controlled an eight-point lead (20-12) in the third set before ultimately claiming the 25-20 victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Graduate student Hope Arce-Reed (New Carrollton, Md./College Park Academy) logged a team-best nine kills to go with four blocks.
  • Sophomore Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) finished with eight kills and seven digs.
  • Molina tallied 15 digs.
  • Sophomore Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) logged 22 assists to pair with five digs.
  • The Pioneers recorded 19 total blocks.
 
UP NEXT:
  • The Pioneers will face off against Stockton at the Sports and Recreation Center Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7:00 p.m.
