Women's Volleyball Defeats Misericordia

WAYNE, N.J. – the William Paterson volleyball team (15-9, 5-1 NJAC) extended its win streak at home to 10 after besting Misericordia (21-5, 3-2 MAC Freedom) 3-1 in a non-conference match on Oct. 26.



HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP led 8-4 in the first set when they launched a five-point rally, highlighted by three kills from Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial), securing the set 25-11.
  • With set two tied at 14, the Pioneers executed a decisive rally, leading to a 25-19 set victory.
  • Despite rallying back from an 18-10 deficit, WP narrowly fell to the Cougars in set three, 26-24.
  • The Pioneers took control of the fourth set, surging to a commanding 19-12 lead, capped by Hope Arce-Reed's (New Carrollton, Md./College Park Academy) decisive kill to seal a 25-17 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arce-Reed led the Pioneers with 16 kills.
  • Sophomore Kristian Glenn (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) tallied 11 kills.
  • Miller delivered 14 kills and eight digs.
  • Sophomore Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) had 37 assists.
  • Senior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) recorded 17 digs.
