Volleyball Secures Road Sweep at New Jersey City

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (14-9, 5-1 NJAC) captured its third straight New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory after sweeping New Jersey City (10-13, 2-4 NJAC) in a road tilt Oct. 25.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • William Paterson owned a four-point edge (12-8) in the opening set before a kill by graduate student Hope Arce-Reed (New Carrollton, Md./College Park Academy) sparked a 13-3 run that secured the Pioneers the 25-11 win.
  • After grabbing a late 10-point advantage (19-9), WP closed out the second set on a 6-2 run to earn the 25-11 victory.
  • In the third set, the Pioneers held a one-point lead (17-16) when a kill by sophomore Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) started an 8-2 run that gave WP the 25-18 win.  
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arce-Reed had a match-high 16 kills to go with four digs.
  • Sophomore Kristian Glenn (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) recorded 10 kills.
  • Sophomore Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) dished out 25 assists with eight digs and four service aces.
  • Miller notched 10 digs and seven service aces.
  • Senior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) tallied a match-best 21 digs.

  • William Paterson returns to the Sports and Recreation Center Saturday, Oct. 26, for an 11:00 a.m. non-conference match against Misericordia.
