Volleyball Cruises to Home Sweep Over Rutgers-Camden

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (13-9, 4-1 NJAC) cruised to a 3-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) home victory against Rutgers-Camden (6-17, 2-4 NJAC) Oct. 22 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers trailed by two (9-7) in the opening set before a kill by graduate student Hope Arce-Reed (New Carrollton, Md./College Park Academy) sparked a 12-3 run. William Paterson maintained its lead en route to securing the 25-18 win.
  • It was a six-point game (20-14) in favor of WP late in the second set before the Scarlet Raptors trimmed the deficit to four (22-18). However, three unanswered points earned the Pioneers the 25-18 victory.
  • William Paterson jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the third set with sophomore Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) contributing with four kills. Rutgers-Camden pulled within five (15-10), but the Pioneers built on to their advantage before capturing the 25-14 win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arce-Reed finished with a match-high 14 kills with four digs and three block assists.
  • Miller logged a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs.
  • Sophomore Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) dished out 42 assists.
  • Senior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) recorded 10 digs.
  • The Pioneers improved to 9-0 at home.
