Volleyball Emerges Victorious in 3-1 NJAC Win Over Kean

WAYNE, N.J. – In a thrilling New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match, the William Paterson volleyball team (9-5, 2-0 NJAC) emerged victorious, 3-1, over Kean (8-8, 0-1 NJAC) Oct. 1 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In a tightly-contested first set, the Pioneers put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short, losing 25-23.
  • The Pioneers trailed 19-17 in the second set before a kill from sophomore Sofia Zablackis (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) sparked an 8-3 run that sealed the 25-23 come-from-behind win.
  • WP led by three (22-19) late in the third set when the Pioneers outscored the Cougars, 3-0, the rest of the way to earn the 25-19 victory.
  • The Pioneers found themselves down by two (21-19) before a pair of attacking errors by Kean and a service ace by senior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) gave WP the one-point edge (22-21). The Cougars responded with back-to-back points, but WP countered with a 3-0 surge to capture the 25-23 win.
