Men's Basketball Topped by Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (6-12, 1-10 NJAC) fell 112-79 to Rowan (13-5, 7-4 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game Jan. 20.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Trailing by four (22-18) with 10:40 remaining in the first half, the Pioneers went on to grab a five-point edge (40-35) after outscoring the Profs, 22-13, over a stretch of 7:22. However, Rowan closed out the opening stanza on a 13-0 run to go ahead by eight (48-40).
  • The Profs outscored the Pioneers 64-39 in the second half to earn the 112-79 home win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior Shawn Summers Jr. (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) posted a 20-point outing on 7-of-14 (.500) shooting with five assists and four rebounds.
  • Junior Neftali Valentin (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) had 14 points on 6-of-12 (.500) shooting with four rebounds.
  • Junior David Martinez (Maywood, N.J./Hackensack) recorded 11 points with three made 3-pointers.
  • Graduate student MJ Moncrieffe (Maplewood, N.J./Marist) finished with 10 points.
  • Junior Tim Gjonballa (Brooklyn, N.Y./Jackson Liberty) posted a nine-point performance with a team-high seven boards.

  • William Paterson returns to the Sports and Recreation Center Wednesday, Jan. 24, for an 8:00 p.m. conference game against New Jersey City.
