Men's Basketball Bested by Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (6-9, 1-7 NJAC) was bested 72-60 at Ramapo (12-3, 6-2 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game Jan. 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers found themselves in an early hole as the Roadrunners opened the game on a 10-0 run. William Paterson was able to pull within nine on several occasions, but Ramapo carried a 13-point lead (36-23) into halftime.
  • With 7:26 on the clock in the second half, a jumper by graduate student MJ Moncrieffe (Maplewood, N.J./Marist) sparked a 14-1 William Paterson run that trimmed the deficit to six (64-58) with 2:18 left to play. During that stretch of 5:31, the Pioneers went 6-for-9 (.667) from the field while forcing four turnovers.
  • Ramapo responded with a timely make from long range and went on to ice the game at the foul line to secure the 72-60 home victory.
