VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS
WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (8-2, 0-1 NJAC) opened NJAC play with a five-set match, falling to Ramapo (7-0, 1-0 NJAC) at the Sports and Rec Center on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Pioneers and Roadrunners stayed within four of each other until Ramapo went on an 8-0 run to grab a 21-13 advantage. The Roadrunners held the lead to grab the first set (25-17).
- The second set stayed within two points until a kill by freshman outside hitter Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London) sparked a 4-0 run (12-9). The Roadrunners responded with a 7-4 run to tie the set (16-16). A successful attack by freshman middle hitter Kristian Glenn (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) led the Pioneers to extend their lead and hold it to snatch the second set, 25-20.
- Down 20-17, the Pioneers' late charge that included a total of five kills by Glenn, Zabloudil and freshman middle hitter Sofia Zablackis (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) led to an 8-3 run to secure the 25-23 set.
- WP pushed within one of Ramapo (17-16) but the Roadrunners earned the fourth set with an 8-3 run (25-19).
- The deciding set was close with the Roadrunners up one at the switch of sides (8-7). The Roadrunners held at least a two-point advantage the rest of the way, to win the fifth set 15-11.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Zabloudil posted multiple career highs with 21 kills, 15 digs and five blocks.
- Miller secured three career highs with 14 kills, three service aces and two blocks. She added 12 digs.
- Glenn earned a career high eight kills and four blocks.
- Freshman setter Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) secured a career-high 43 assists and a game-high four aces.
- Zablackis led the two NJAC teams with six blocks, five assisted and one solo.
- Junior libero Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) secured a season-high and game-high 28 digs.

- William Paterson travels to Collegeville, Pa. for a tri-match against Penn State Behrend at 2:00 p.m. and Ursinus at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
